To provide excellent care in a safe and secure homelike environment where all who share this residence will be supported and encouraged to seek personal wellbeing, dignity, peace of mind and happiness.
Our Philosophy
To respect each and every individual in their right to the highest quality of care based upon emotional, intellectual, spiritual and physical needs, as well as dignity and respect as a person. We aim to provide quality supportive care accommodation in a secure, comfortable homelike environment and encourage and assist our residents to be socially independent, to make decisions about their lifestyle while being aware of their need for additional assistance.
The Proprietors
Eileen Darby – Eileen Darby is a trained Div 1 nurse with a Masters degree in Public Health. She has had a varied career in international health and development working for Australian not for profit organizations including World Vision and IDSS, a subsidiary of Oxfam. Eileen is trained in Ireland and has lived and worked in Ireland, England, Asia, NZ and Australia. Eileen has just done a ‘return to nursing’ course in NZ focussing on care of older people.
Pri Fernando is an honours graduate with a Masters degree in Public Health. Pri has worked for many years in the social sector both in Australia and overseas with World Vision Australia (10 years) and most recently for 4 years as the Managing Director of IDSS, a commercial subsidiary of Oxfam.
Taking over St. James is the fruition of a long held aspiration to be involved in the domestic social sector in Australia.
